Business Systems Analyst (Process Mining)

About the Role

The Emerging Technologies Team of the Strategy and Innovation division is looking for a forward-thinking, dynamic, and customer-obsessed Business Systems Analyst (Process Mining). This individual will be an essential part of a team of engineers and technologists (onshore and offshore) that will leverage both commercially available process analytics products (e.g. UiPath, Automation Anywhere, etc.) and custom applications to provide technology consulting to customers and partners of core business lines. This role will translate business requirements into system definitions and solutions while serving as a strategic partner and liaison between the user community and the product team. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving, organizational and interpersonal skills with a strong bias-for-action, attention-to-detail, and written and verbal communication.  The role will report to the Technical Product Manager and will collaborate closely with Application/Product Teams, System End-Users, Architects, Vendors and other key stakeholders to successfully discover, define, measure, analyze, and improve business processes.

Job Profile Summary

Supports the Technical Product Manager by designing, collecting, analyzing, presenting, and organizing business and system data to enable effective decision-making. Excels in a fast-paced, agile development environment and provides timely updates on projects to ensure on-time and high-quality deliverables. Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and supports the development and management of specifications to resolve them. Responsible for creating, reviewing, and gaining approval for various department artifacts such as business/technical requirements, software specification documents, user manuals, demos, and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gathers customer requirements to support process mining, process automation, and process optimization. Able to perform analysis of situations or data which require a review of various factors.
    • Strong understanding of visual design for analytics and translate business challenges to data insights through reports, dashboards, and visualization.
    • Gather, analyze, transform, and summarize large sets of process, system, and business data using the appropriate tools and methods
    • Design and conduct QA testing on data and analytics products and deliverables
    • Works with Product Managers, Project Managers and Business Analysts to produce project delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery.
    • Follows department processes and procedures. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. May make recommendation to improve processes.
    • Provide regular and effective progress updates to and work closely with project managers to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues. Actively contributes to the results of the team and works towards achieving team goals and objectives.
    • Create process maps (current and future state), flowcharts, diagrams, presentations, demos, and other technical documents to support training, security/compliance, marketing, and IT support purposes.
    • Receives general direction and is competent to perform most aspects of the job independently or with little supervision.
    • Actively identifies issues, seeks out solutions and makes recommendations to the broad business community to apply customized solutions to solve business problems
    • Provides training and support directly to customers.
    • Perform duties outside of normal work hours based on business needs.

Knowledge and Skills Desired

  • Proficiency in business process management, process mining, and process automation platforms such as UiPath or similar technologies
    • Proficiency in SQL, advanced MS Excel functions, and other data analysis tools
    • Proficiency in Microsoft365 and similar productivity and collaboration tools.
    • Working knowledge of software development, applied mathematics, or similar engineering field.
    • Basic knowledge of general business environment/operation and has general cost, risk, and benefit awareness.
    • Customer service oriented with ability to build trust and solve customer issues.
    • Ability to dive-deep and apply a data-driven, fact-based approach to problem solving.
    • Excellent verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills.
    • Advanced written and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, process design, and process analytics
    • 3+ years of experience in business intelligence technologies and methods
    • 3+ years of experience with SQL
    • Basic understanding of data analysis and/or database technologies
    • Technical writing and presentation skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with low code/no code technologies such as UiPath, Alteryx, Microsoft Power Platform
    • Strong applied mathematics and statistics skills
    • Experience with Python, R or other scripting language for advanced data analysis
    • Experience in machine learning / data science
    • Experience in Agile Management, Project Management, or Lean Six Sigma
    • Experience in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), ITIL, or Business Process Management
    • Real Estate, FinTech, PropTech or similar industry experience
    • Prior tech start-up, R&D, or advanced technology development experience
